I want to thank Congressman Thompson for agreeing to holding town hall meetings this summer. It’s great to hear that he has changed his mind. On June 16, 2010, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that Mr. Thompson would not hold town hall meetings this summer. His congressional spokesperson Tina Kreisher said that the incumbent wouldn’t be holding any town hall meetings because they are too costly. However, Mr. Thompson held two town hall meetings on Wednesday, August 11 – one in St. Mary’s and another in Marienville.
I’m curious to know why he decided to reverse position? And why didn’t his list the two town hall meetings? Mr. Thompson did post messages on his .)
On July 6, 2010, I announced that I would be holding 12 town hall meetings throughout Pennsylvania’s Fifth Congressional District. So far I have held ten, with two more to go. I posted all of the dates, times, and locations of my town hall meetings on my campaign website. Holding town hall meetings is not enough –informing constituents about when and where you will be holding meetings is essential.
In the future, I hope Mr. Thompson will post the dates and times of any future town hall meetings on his congressional website and/or campaign website.

Michael, you have been open and honest in your campaign efforts. Seeing the way you are conducting efforts makes me wonder why Thompson didn’t let the public (his constituents!) know about his meeting.
Is he afraid to face the issues that we need addressed? Incompetent? Simply uncaring? Perhaps he is counting on re-election through avoidance.
