October 20, 2010 – By SCOTT JOHNSON

CASTANEA – Stark contrasts were seen between the two candidates to represent the 5th Congressional District in Washington, D.C., during a Candidates Forum Tuesday night, sponsored by the Christian Coalition of Clinton County.

Republican incumbent Glenn “GT” Thompson of Howard faced off against Democratic challenger Michael Pipe of State College, with Pipe’s low-grading 2000 mg msm of scores on a questionnaire provided to the candidates drawing the most response from the approximately 50 who attended.

Thompson received a 100 percent rating on the questions, while Pipe only drew 19 percent.

Pipe, a recent graduate of Penn State University with a B.A. in Political Science and a current restaurant assistant manager, said he entered the race to represent the sprawling 5th Congressional District for those living paycheck to paycheck.

He said many people he knows have to work two jobs, had to drop out of college or have no health insurance because they can’t afford it.

“I listen to their stories on a day-to-day basis and I listen to their struggles,” Pipe said. “I think nobody in Washington really knows how it is to struggle from pay check to pay check and what that means. In this race for Congress, I’m trying to be somebody who will be a champion for working, middle-class families, and when I go to Washington, I want to be able to hang my hat as a champion for the working class.”

“Washington has forgotten average man”
by Mike Reuther
10/17/10

At 26, Michael Pipe is barely old enough to be a member of Congress, but that’s not stopping him from trying to convince voters to elect him to 200 mg ultram the 5th District seat held by U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson, R-Howard.

“I am running for Congress because I know what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck and too many people in Washington have forgotten what that’s like. People don’t understand those struggles. We need someone in the 5th District who understands their struggles.”

A 2009 Penn State graduate employed as an assistant manager at Five Guys Burgers and Fries in State College, Pipe said he has good insight into the plight of young college graduates looking for jobs and working people fighting to make ends meet.

“The no. 1 priority right now is jobs. We need to help small businesses,” he said. “I think we have to create policies that keep jobs here.”

Check out the coverage from the first debate between myself and the incumbent Glenn Thompson:

“Pipe said the upcoming election is about the residents of the fifth district, not the candidates. He said he would bring a unique perspective to Washington through his experience working at a fast food restaurant.

“It’s safe to say I’m the only candidate who has to flip patties for a living, and I’m proud of that job,” Pipe said. “I work alongside 200 mg clomid people who work two jobs, don’t have healthcare, have had to drop out of college because they couldn’t afford it. There are people in Washington who don’t know those struggles like I do.”

Pipe emphasized his relation to average Americans. “I work at a fast-food restaurant. It’s safe to say I’m the only candidate running for Congress who has to flip patties, but I’m proud of that job,” he said. “I know how tough it is out there.”

Pipe said Thompson has added to the partisan air in the Capitol, saying that the incumbent has used terms like “stimu-less” in reference to federal stimulus funds and “Pelosi-care” in reference to health-care reform.
